Swelling and hCG Diet

There is a common term involved when you’re planning to go on the hCG diet. And no, it’s not the hCG hormone, but something associated with the entire diet.

The term I am referring to is Swelling. For those of you who do not know about Swelling in the context of the hCG diet, it means that there are reports from people who have tried the hCG diet that has experienced swelling in the area where they injected the hCG hormone.

Well, it is not far from the truth that indeed, some cases of the hCG diet hormone (at least in the form of injectables) may cause swelling over the area of injection, and here’s why. The hCG hormone comes from the placenta of pregnant women. The hormone was originally used to treat infertility and hormonal instability. Then, in a remarkable insight by Dr. Simeons, he was able to use the hCG hormone to aid people in weight loss.

So, in other words, Swelling in the area where you inject the hCG hormone is quite normal. You may or may not experience swelling at all and that is according to our different body types.

But, some people also report increased likelihoods of swelling when on the hCG diet (and not necessarily by using hCG shots). What are the reasons behind this? Well, here are some reasons why people are still experiencing swelling when they’re on the hCG diet:

  1. Not Enough Protein. One of the most prominent reasons as to why people experience swelling while on the hCG diet is because of low-protein intake. You see, protein helps and repairs the body’s muscles. Without it, you will experience unwanted swelling and soreness in different parts of your body. Since phase 2 and phase 3 of the hCG diet requires you to portion your meals accordingly, you may have eaten less than adequate amounts of protein. Aim to consume at least 60 grams of protein a day to avoid swelling while you’re on the hCG diet.
  2. Too much Sodium. Another reason why you may be experiencing swelling while on the hCG diet is because of too much Sodium. Sodium is best known for its water-retention properties. As much as possible, only consume a little amount of Sodium, especially when you’re still on the hCG diet.
  3. Not Enough Water. Water is an essential component in our bodies. Whether you’re on a diet or not, you must drink copious amount of water per day in order to flush out toxins, help you with your diet (in this case, the hCG diet), and eliminate other harmful elements in your body. By drinking lots of water, you can rid yourself of extra Sodium that is not absorbed by the body. In turn, you will reduce the likelihood of swelling.

These are the three main reasons why you may be experiencing swelling while on the hCG diet. Be sure to eat adequate amounts of protein, minimize sodium intake, and increase your water intake every day to help reduce the chances of swelling, especially when you’re on the hCG diet.
